Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This policy describes how Intelliserve ("Intelliserve", "we", "us") handles personal information. Intelliserve is a software business operated by Dwayne Williams in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. You can reach us at dwayne@intelliserve.ca.

We design and supply operational software (including the Desk suite) and related professional services for industrial and energy organisations. We are not a consumer social network, an advertising network, or a data broker.

2. Scope and Canadian law

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law, including the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where it applies to our activities in Alberta, the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). If we later offer services that bring other privacy statutes into play, we will update this policy.

This policy covers this website, email we exchange with you, and personal information we receive in the ordinary course of providing or discussing our software and services. Product instances we host for a customer may also be governed by a separate agreement with that customer. Where there is a conflict, the customer agreement controls for that engagement.

3. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to operate the business:

• Identity and contact information you give us — typically your name, organisation, role, email address, and the content of your message — when you write to us or do business with us.
• Business records such as contracts, invoices, support correspondence, and notes required to deliver or support software.
• Technical logs that our hosting provider may generate when you visit this site (for example IP address, browser type, date and time, and the pages requested). We do not run advertising pixels or a marketing newsletter on this site.
• Product data that a customer or authorised user enters into an Intelliserve application, which we process as needed to provide the service. That data belongs to the customer organisation except where the law requires otherwise.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our software and this website are intended for business use by adults.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

• respond to enquiries and provide support;
• enter into, perform, and administer contracts for software and services;
• operate, secure, and improve this website and our products;
• meet legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations;
• protect Intelliserve, our customers, and the public against fraud, abuse, or security incidents.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. If we ever send commercial electronic messages, we will do so in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

5. Service providers and transfers

We use carefully chosen service providers to host this website, deliver email, and (where applicable) host software. Those providers may process information in Canada or in other countries that have different privacy laws. When information is processed outside Canada, it may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities under the laws of that country.

This website is deployed on infrastructure operated by Vercel. Mail to dwayne@intelliserve.ca is handled through Google Workspace. We require providers to use the information only to perform services for us, subject to appropriate contractual and technical safeguards.

6. Cookies and similar technology

This site is a static professional website. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. The hosting platform may set strictly necessary cookies or similar technical data to deliver the site securely and reliably. Your browser can block cookies; doing so should not prevent you from reading these pages.

7. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law (for example tax and accounting records). Correspondence about a prospective engagement is kept long enough to handle the enquiry and any follow-up, then deleted or archived according to our ordinary records practice.

8. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to a small software business — including access control, encrypted transport (HTTPS), and limited sharing of credentials. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and regulators as Canadian law requires.

9. Your rights

Subject to the limits in PIPEDA, PIPA, and other applicable law, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and withdraw consent where we rely on consent. You may also complain to us if you believe we have mishandled your information.

If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, for Alberta PIPA matters, the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

10. Changes

We may update this policy as our products, providers, or legal obligations change. The date at the top of the page will change when we do. Continued use of the site or our services after an update means you should review the new text; we will not hide material changes.
